MRI, and Insurance News

I'm getting an MRI on my foot tomorrow. I'll visit my doc again next Tuesday to go over the results.

My wonderful wife called our insurance company today and was told that they will cover orthotics (100%!) as long as they're billed as "preventative". I don't see why they wouldn't be considered preventative, as they will hopefully help me avoid further injuries once I start running again.

So, good news, as custom orthotics aren't exactly cheap.

Tune in Friday for a new, timely (regarding fall marathon season) and VERY helpful video!

  1. Glad your insurance company will pick-up your orthotics. Indeed, they're preventative (why else would anyone carry any extra weight in their shoe?), but play it safe by asking your Doc to process their payment through your co-pay plus insurance.

  2. This is all just too good to be true, especially the video. Gil cometh?

  3. I just got mine, and luckily did not owe anything as well. I have to say, while I had to get past needing "corrective devices", I'm impressed with them so far....it helps when they tell me I can eventually run the target weekly mileage I want to as well!

They go great in my Launches and Glycerin's as well:)

  4. The word orthotics sounds terrible. Hope it helps.

  6. Thanks, I'll definitely post more when I get results next week.
Adrienne, that's really good to know. I love my Launches and would hate to give them up.
Chris, no Gil just yet, but it won't be long.

  7. Oh, Yeah-they were recommended to use (at least for me-just a disclaimer)in Launches by a sports med doc. Helps she was a former All-American,so I trust her judgment!
